The Demand for PGDM in Rural Management

A PGDM in rural management is among the most sought-after postgraduate programs. This surge in demand is driven by a shift in how businesses view rural India. With majority of India’s population residing in rural areas, the potential for development and entrepreneurship is immense. This change has significantly increased the number of professionals required in the rural space. The following factors have contributed to the surge in demand for this course:

• Expanding rural markets: Due to the immense potential of rural markets, many corporations have started entering rural markets for expansion. Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), agro-tech companies, and even digital and BFSI organisations are viewing rural India as their next growth opportunity. This calls for skilled rural managers who can bridge the gap between rural and urban strategies.
• Rise of NGOs and social services: An increase in NGOs and social enterprises has increased the demand for professionals who are trained in rural development, microfinance, supply chain management, and more.
• Massive dependency on agriculture: India, being an agrarian economy, requires innovation and creativity to make farming more convenient. This could mean developing new sustainable farming techniques, market supply chain management, and more such innovative ideas.
• Impact-driven careers: Students are now driven by purpose and impact rather than salary. A PGDM in rural management paves the way for the youth of today to create impact while building a strong career path for themselves.
