How to select the right Business School

Business schools, also known as B schools, award students a degree in management upon completion of the program. Graduation from a reputable business school paves the way for a career in the dynamic world of business and equips students with the skills and knowledge to navigate business challenges. Planning to apply to a business school? This blog explores the top 7 factors that prospective students should consider before applying:

1. Areas of Specialisation: The most important factor to consider when applying to business schools is the specialisations and programs they offer. Specialisations should be very carefully selected to ensure they align with one’s career aspirations and interests.

1. Faculty: The right faculty should be able to inspire students to succeed. Be sure to research the faculty’s credentials and see the experience they have to offer. Selecting a business school is a significant decision, so be sure to take time to research, as qualified faculty can significantly impact the outcome!

1. Speak with current students: Engaging with current students before enrolling for a program can provide insight into the student life and environment of the institute. It is also important to select an institute that promotes diversity; this allows students to network with people from different backgrounds. Asking questions related to the placement is a wise decision, as it provides clarity on the institute’s success in helping students find the right job!

1. Location and cost: For most students, location is not a barrier to finding the perfect business school. However, before moving cities to complete a postgraduate program, students should take into account the cost of living in a new city and the total fees of the institute to ensure it is well within their budget. Many deserving candidates miss out on the opportunity to study at some of the best business schools in India due to monetary issues. In such cases, many institutes, including Welingkar Institute, offer scholarships to deserving candidates!

1. Placement opportunities: Before enrolling in a business school, conduct thorough research on the placements offered by the institute. A suitable place to start the research would be the institute’s website or even speaking to alumni from the institute.
